Meaning of Sisu
Sisu is a unique Finnish concept. It stands for the philosophy that what must be done will be done, regardless of what it takes. Sisu is a special strength and persistent determination and resolve to continue and overcome in the moment of adversity…an almost magical quality, a combination of stamina, perseverance, courage, and determination held in reserve for hard times.
That’s exactly what We want to help you with. When you as a parent/educator are having a hard time coaching your kid, Psychologie Praktijk Sisu want to help you and your kid by giving them individual therapy and by giving you as a parent information and abilities to surpass your limits and make it easier to educate your kids in a more pleasant and fruitful way.
Our Mission is to help you reach your goal to experience a happier family. We help the kids achieve positive thoughts, find their identity and we help you as a parent develop a positive relationship with you and your kids, so that you can understand your kids needs and know how to meet them. We want to teach you how to spend quality time with your kids and how to discipline your kids in the correct way.

Hello, I’m Achanty Damice-Thomasa
Child & Adolescent Psychology, MSc
Achanty is a qualified and trained Psychologist from the University of Leiden, and holds multiple qualifications. She has 5 years of experience working in the field of Psychology. She provides counselling for young children, adolescents, families for a range of psychological needs.
Achanty has specialist skills and is passionate about working with children, adolescents and their families, in the area of school refusal, bullying, behavioral problems, emotional problems or parenting problems, mentally challenged, trauma, grief processing and loyalty conflict in divorce. She also have have experience in treating kids who had been abused and neglect.
With Adults, Achanty can provide treatment for issues relating to attachment and parenting. She offers service options that are respectful of clients and their cultures and incorporate their preferences.
Achanty worked for the last 5 years and has extensive experience working across a broad range of settings including:
– Child and Adolescent Psychologist (Psychology Practice Curaçao)
– Child and Adolescent Psychologist (The Child Protection Foundation Curaçao)
– Teacher of Child and Adolescent Welfare (The College of The Dutch Caribbean)
Renowned for her collaborative, compassionate and empathetic approach, Achanty provides a safe and nurturing environment for children and adolescents to deepen their understanding of their emotional issues and develop the skills they need to move forward.

Training Light Mental Limitation (LML) at Federatie Antilliaanse Jeugd-Zorg.
She is the founder of the educative facebook page “Awor Si Bo Sá!” meaning now you know. A page where she gives information to parents on various areas regarding their children.
She was also a researcher on the project of “tata” father where they researched about what are the factors that prevent a father to contact their kids.
She has also been invited to talk on tv and radio stations regarding the wellbeing of the children and give reading in schools and other organisations.
